The Bathroom Vanity

Later in this series we’ll get into what makes the perfect bathroom. Needless to say, the bathroom vanity is a big opportunity to wow your guests.

In this episode we’ll address the vanity unit and mirror as well as the must-have contents in you vanity for you to be a Guest House Hero.

Firstly, the actual vanity and basin.

When we designed our bathrooms, we wanted vanities that looked good and could be changed out easily for an identical quickly one should there ever be some damage. We settled on these. They’re gloss white and, as a result, super-easy to keep clean.

The other part to the vanity is the over-basin mirror. Nowadays it’s imperative to have led-lit mirrors if you don’t have side lighting. Most bathrooms are almost always designed for a light above mirror. It’s a terrible configuration. Any woman applying make-up will agree that lighting at face-level both sides of the mirror is a must for applying make-up and face care.

If you don’t have that lighting configuration, the next best is the led mirror with lighting provided all around the mirror. We have these. The bonus aspect about many of these led-mirrors is that they have a heating element which, if switched on before a shower, will prevent that cloudy condensation on the mirror facilitating easier use after the shower.

But now, what to provide within the vanity?

Over the years we’ve learned through experience how to provide the little touches found nowhere else and which wow guests:

  • Earbuds
  • Nail-care kit consisting of nail clippers, nail file and tweezers,
  • Tampons (link)
  • Boxed shower caps
  • Toothbrush/paste set (link)
  • Packaged sealed comb (link)
  • Packaged sealed hairbrush (link)
  • Pack of face-wipes to prevent make-up removal on your towels (link)
  • A plastic cup for guests to stand toothbrushes in on the vanity (link)
  • Hairdryer (link)

Many of our past glowing Tripadvisor or Google reviews have thanked us for the helpful items located in the vanity.
